     Sammy's accomplishments in 2001 include being named No. 1 Pembroke Welsh Corgi (on breed points) by the AKC, No. 1 PWC Specialty winner, No. 8 Top Ten Herding Dogs (all breed points) and 6 Best in Show awards. He also won the PWCCA National Specialty as well as the annual Pedigree award, a prestigious award that recognizes the "Best of the Best" in each breed.

     Sammy began his specialty career in January 2001 with professional handler Glenn Lycan. In his first month of showing he was awarded six Best of Breeds, two Herding Group Seconds and three Herding Group Fourths on the Florida and Mississippi circuits. In his first specialty show, Sammy was awarded Best in Specialty under Breeder Judge Mrs. Gayle K. Garvin at the North Texas Pembroke Welsh Corgi Specialty in March. He won his second specialty at the PWCC of Greater Atlanta Specialty in April under Breeder Judge Dr. Donald Sturz, Jr. Sammy was awarded Best of Opposite Sex at the Mayflower PWCC Specialty in June under Breeder Judge Miss Mary Gay Sargent. In August he won his third specialty at the PWCC of Western Reserve Specialty under Breeder Judge Mr. Thomas (Tim) Mathieson.

     Sammy won Best in Specialty Show on September 15, 2001 at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club (PWCC) of America National Specialty in St. Louis, Missouri under Breeder Judge Mrs. Joan Gibson Reid. He then won Best of Opposite Sex in Specialty Show at the PWCC Ohio Specialty on November 17, 2001 under Judge Ms. Kristen Francis. Sammy finished the 2001 season by taking Group II at the AKC/Eukanuba American Dog Classic under Judge Mrs. Jean Fourier and Best of Breed under Breeder Judge Frank T. Sabella.

As a young dog, Sammy finished his conformation championship quickly, going Winner's Dog and Best of Winners at PWCC Garden State Specialty May 2000 out of the 12-18 month class under Breeder Judge Tish Weiner. At the PWCA-Canadian National Specialty in May, Sammy took Best in Sweepstakes under Breeder Judge Cindy Savioli plus Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite under Breeder Judge Leif-Herman Wilberg.      Sammy comes from a long, distinguished line of champion Pembroke Welsh Corgis and that tradition continues with his offspring in class competition throughout the US.
